Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Desert Place Rentals collects when you use the platform, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: name, email, phone number, and profile photo you provide when you sign up or update your profile.
• Listing and booking information: space details and photos Hosts upload, and booking requests, messages, and reviews Renters and Hosts exchange through the platform.
• Payment information: processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe. We receive confirmation that a charge or payout occurred, not full card or bank account numbers.
• Usage information: pages viewed, listings favorited, and similar activity, collected automatically to keep the platform working and to improve it.

2. How we use it

• To operate the marketplace: create accounts, publish listings, process booking requests, and enable messaging.
• To process payments and payouts through Stripe, and to calculate our commission.
• To send booking, message, and account notifications.
• To keep the platform safe — detecting fraud, abuse, and Terms violations.
• To improve search, ranking, and the overall product.

3. Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary information with the following categories of service providers, and don't sell personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes:

• Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and file storage.
• Stripe — processes payments and Host payouts under its own privacy policy.
• Mapbox — renders the map shown on listing pages, when configured.
• A Host and Renter see each other's name, profile photo, and messages once a booking request is submitted — a listing's exact address is only shared with a Renter after a Host approves their request.

4. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your session. We don't currently use third-party advertising cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.

5. Data retention

We keep account, listing, and booking records for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period after, to meet legal, tax, and dispute-resolution obligations. You can request deletion of your account as described below.

6. Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete most of your account information from your account settings. To request a full export or deletion of your data, email hello@desertplacerentals.com — we'll respond within 30 days. Deleting your account doesn't remove records we're required to keep for legal or tax purposes, such as completed booking and payment history.

7. Children's privacy

Desert Place Rentals is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
